The original version of iPhone was certainly innovative and groundbreaking and quite expensive. The euphoria was so great that both techies and the common masses qued-up to get the iPhone at $599 and $699 for the 8GB and 16GB models respectively. But the price fator certainly limited the buyers.
With the passage of time, the prices of iphone dropped and its reputation of being the hottest gadget of the year spread like wild-fire and the sales picked up. Apple people knew it very well that had the prices been reasonable, many more people would have wanted to buy their dream gadget, which they didn't because of the high price.
With the launch of the 3G iphone and dramatic drop in the price, there is bound to be huge rush for iphone lovers all around to have their gadget. The new 3G 8GB iphone will sell for just $199, (4GB iPhone sold for $600 at the time of launch in 2008) while the 16GB 3G iphone model will sell for $299. With this kind of pricing, Apple is sure to achieve its target of selling 10 million iphones much before the deadline and the biggest plus point in the whole story is that India is going to have the iphone in July.
